Nantahala Brewing was founded in Bryson City, North Carolina (roughly an hour west of Asheville) in the Heart of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Founded in 2009, Nantahala Brewing Company creates award-winning beers in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A proud supporter of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Friends of the Smokies and Great Smoky Mountain Association, the brewery’s beer, culture and vision are defined by the park’s wild spaces and its untouched, natural water that flows from one of the purest, protected watersheds on the planet. Nantahala Brewing is known for such adventure-inspired flagships as Dirty Girl Blonde Ale, Noon Day IPA, App Trail Extra Pale Ale, and Bryson City Brown Ale. In addition, the brewery seasonally releases Devil's Courthouse Belgian Golden Strong, 8-Foot Drop Double IPA, Hellbender Hefeweizen, Rivers End Oktoberfest, Pattons Run Porter, Chocolate Covered Cherry Stout, Judaculla Russian Imperial Stout and Sticky Dog Stout and is known for their specialty Trail Magic series. These beers can be found in six packs and on draft in grocery stores and restaurants across North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Matt Smith is a recent and awesome addition to the Nantahala Brew Crew. With his local knowledge of the area and long standing within the community, he has been an integral part of opening our Sylva Outpost. When he is out and about you can find him watching the game while drinking ice cold Hazy Mountain IPA!
Kate Dickey joined the brew crew back in 2016, and has stuck with us ever since! She started out in a much different capacity than in the one she is in today with cleaning kegs and lines and working in production and slowly moved up the ranks. She found that interacting with customers and spreading the word of good beer and cheer was more her speed!

Rick Balliot joined Nantahala Brewing Company in 2016 as one of our sound engineers. With a long background in banking and finance, he joined forces with us again in 2019 working in the finance and human resource area of our company. He can also be found behind the mixing board on weekends working with our live music acts. When asked about his favorite beer, the response was "all of them"!
