Founded in 2009, Nantahala Brewing Company creates award-winning beers in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A proud supporter of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Friends of the Smokies and Great Smoky Mountain Association, the brewery’s beer, culture and vision are defined by the park’s wild spaces and its untouched, natural water that flows from one of the purest, protected watersheds on the planet. Born in the heart of the mountains, Nantahala Brewing is the home of great craft beer and grand adventures, which isn't that what life's about?
“We love having the Great Smoky Mountain National Park as our backyard and we want to extend that backyard all the way to Asheville,” said Joe Rowland, Co-Owner of Nantahala Brewing Company. Our third location opened the beginning of September of 2018 in West Asheville. Here we have it all with beers, booze & southern inspired brew fare. Every week we host a slew of local musicians that you can check out, no cover involved! We also boast a large event space upstairs perfect for any event with an 8' by 12' tv screen. Nantahala Brewing has heard the call and has brought the brews and more of the mountains even closer to the people of Asheville for those who can’t make the hour drive west to their original location.
With our taproom cranking out amazing brews, we decided to add a second location concentrating on something equally delicious. In February of 2017, we opened up our farm to table brewpub 175 yards down from our brewery. We took over the old RC Cole warehouse originally built in 1910s, incorporating local history in the build by reusing the original flooring through out the construction. Today you can come in and have a lovely sit down meal, pint, or signature cocktail either outside next to one of our fire pits or inside our expansive dining room looking in to an open air kitchen. we also have an open lawn for all those who would like to enjoy the outdoor lawn games. We take the same approach to our food as we do our beer only going for the best ingredients while being inspired by local mountain flavors.
After more than 15 months of design, planning, permitting and construction, we were excited to open our doors in Sylva beginning July 2019. We LOVE all of our spots, but this one is the culmination of a decade of brewing, learning and exploring what it means to be Nantahala Brewing. Just like our other location we have free live music every weekend, our southern inspired brew fare and all of our beers on tap. One of our favorite parts of this location is having a covered outside porch that not only overlooks Scotts Creek, but also has bar access. Stay tuned to see all the exciting additions we make as we grow
